Global Updates: World Health Organization phase:
Worldwide, laboratories now have officially reported 2,500 human cases of the new swine flu in 25 countries with 46 deaths.
No change in WHO pandemic phases of 5
o While this virus has been reported in 25 other countries according to WHO, there is no evidence of sustained person-to-person transmission beyond two generations outside of North America. This kind of sustained transmission in other parts of the world would need to occur in order for WHO to raise the pandemic alert phase to level 6.
National Updates:
National data (to date) includes:
o U.S. 1639 confirmed cases and two deaths.
¨ CDC has not issued new guidance today!
State/Local
Still no cases as of now in Allen County, Indiana has 39 confirmed cases – 21 in Marion County and 9 in Lake county.
There will be no lab pickup this weekend, but the ISDH lab is open on Saturday from 9-5.
