Gas leak forces evacuations and early closing.
(December 10, 2010) - The Fort Wayne-Allen County Department of Health Medical Annex located at 4813 New Haven Avenue has closed for the remainder of today due to a gas leak at the building.
Tony Burrus, the County's Environmental and Safety Director, said a utility company hit a gas line shortly before noon today which caused the leak.
Mindy Waldron, Health Department Administrator, said employees and clients were safely evacuated from the building.
The health department's Immunization Clinic, Infectious Disease Center/TB Clinic, and HIV/STD Clinic are located at the Medical Annex.
