Particles from wildfires again prompts state Air Quality Action Day designations

The Indiana Department of Environmental Management has declared Air Quality Action Days for Monday, July 24 and Tuesday, July 25, due to forecasted high levels of particles in the air from Canadian wildfires.

The state agency also issued an Air Quality Action Day for Thursday, July 27, due to wildfire particles and high ozone levels. IDEM on Thursday extended that designation through Friday, July 28.

The Air Quality Action Day designations apply to northeast Indiana, including Allen County.

A state map including regions and affected counties is available at SmogWatch.in.gov.

IDEM forecasts are based on air quality monitors located throughout the state. Questions about air quality or the Air Quality Action Days should be directed to IDEM.
